OPPO Enco Air2 Pro TWS Earbuds Review

If you’re shopping for a true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds this season, I tested OPPO Enco Air2 Pro (Lazada | Shopee) to check if it’s worth your attention and your cash.

I used it daily to consume my media contents for more than two weeks, whether it is listening to music or audiobooks or watching streaming videos and vlogs, to see how it fairs on my usual usage.

Noise Cancellation

The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on this OPPO Enco Air2 Pro is decent. It eliminates most ambient sounds around.

I tried different settings while listening to different music genres. I can barely hear what’s happening around me if I was listening to RnB, upbeat or instrument-intensive song. The ANC is also fantastic while watching vlogs with usual background music. All these set at around 80% volume only.

But when I listened to audiobooks, which features mostly just vocals, I can hear, but not recognize clearly, the sound around me. Particularly when I tested the OPPO earbuds while my wife was watching Cake Boss from her tablet (roughly 3 feet away).

If need to be aware of the surrounding noises, then, you can always have the transparency or completely turn the ANC off options.

Audio Quality

I love the balanced sound quality the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro produces, to think that this is an entry-level earbuds.

I appreciate how the midrange sound so clean, making the instruments more prominent. The vocals are crisp and very audible. I noticed these while listening to Payphone (Maroon 5), Miss Independent (Ne-Yo), Hindi Tayo Pwede (The Juans) and Something New (Zendaya).

Take note that all these settings are the default setting or in “Original Sound” mode, at around 70-80% volume and with ANC on.

I also tried bumping the bass and vocals.

When I listened to a slow music, Almost is Never Enough (Paul Kim) and Someday (Nina), and tried to set “Clear vocals,” the artist’s voice sounded more pronounced and crisp.

I also tried adjusting the bass with the “Bass boost” option, and found myself thumping my heels and toes to the sound of Dark Beat (Oscar G) and following the drum beats of Kundiman (Silent Sanctuary). The OPPO Enco Air2 Pro produces deeper bass.

All these you can set through the app HeyMelody available on Google Playstore and Apple Store.

Personally, I prefer using the Original sound or Bass boost.

Another trick I tried is using the equalizer and presets on Spotify together with the HeyMelody Bass boost. With it, I appreciate the music further as each preset was able to maximize the flexibility of the sound quality of the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro’s (eg. Acoustic, Bass Booster, Classical, etc.). Though these settings only apply while listening to Spotify.

Mic Quality

As for making calls, the mic provides acceptable call quality. During few tests, the mic cancels some ambient noise. Though, I was not able to try it in a very rowdy, noisy place.

Battery Life

OPPO Enco Air2 Pro claims it can last up to 28 hours of total battery life, with the earbuds having up to 7 hours of listening time per full charge.

That is, if the ANC is off and listening only at 50% volume.

Personally, I did not try these settings as I want to test the earbuds based on my actual usage.

I was using the earbuds at volumes varying mostly at 70-80% and with ANC being on. That said, the battery life lasted more than 5 hours with one full charge. That is using the OPPO Enco mostly listening to music (YouTube Music and Spotify) and few streaming videos on YouTube.

At this rate, this is still really good in my opinion.

It takes about 2 hours to fully charged the earbuds and case. But with its fast charging feature, you can have a quick charge of 10 minutes and have 2 hours of listening time.

The case is using a USB-C charging port.

In-ear Detection

Another feature that I personally like is the in-ear detection that automatically plays or pauses the media during times that I took off one of the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro. This feature is very convenient.

Smart Controls

Also, the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro has smart controls that give control to the listening experience by using few taps.

I configured mine further using the HeyMelody app adjusting the number of taps depending on the action I wanted (eg. previous, next, play, pause or noise cancellation, etc.).

Connectivity

With its Bluetooth 5.2, all my smart devices did not have a hard time detecting the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro.

While OPPO claims to have a 10meter distance for the wireless connection, I did not try it anymore, since I usually use earbuds close to my devices. Though when I tried going the bathroom which is around 10 feet from my tablet and with about 8 inch-concrete wall and wooden door to separate me from the device, the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro did not have any issues at all. The music was very clear without interruptions.

Water and Dust Resistance

This OPPO earbuds is IP54-rated which means that it is splash and dust resistant. I have not tested this feature though.

Weight and Design

As for the design, the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro is available in white and gray. Personally, I like the white one over the gray version.

Each earbud is very light and fits perfectly. The silicone tips make it more comfortable to wear even for long hours.

As for the charging case, I find the reflective bubble case simply neat with its easy-to-hold size and shape.

Its magnetic features, both the lid and charging ports, make it easy to store and secure the earbuds.

Additional Functions

If you’re using an OPPO device, then you can maximize the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro with added features, like wireless photo trigger, additional sound settings and faster pairing.

What I wish OPPO Enco Air2 Pro Had More:
  • A black color way. For people who might think that white or gray might catch dirt easier than black. (As for me, I am just waiting for a third-party silicone case for the charging case. I will update you once I have it.)
  • More available functions on the HeyMelody app, like volume control on the smart control.
OPPO Enco Air2 Pro Price

The OPPO Enco Air2 Pro’s regular price is Php 4,999.
But you can get it now for Php 3,499 at OPPO’s official stores at Lazada and Shopee which includes 1-year warranty.

VERDICT

For someone like me, who loves to consume media content in a more immersive and intimate way, having these earbuds is a no-brainer.

Given its price (especially with promo deals from OPPO’s official shops in Lazada and Shopee), balanced sound quality and good battery life – things that make the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro deserving of a spot on your shopping cart and in your bag.

Truly, great value for money for daily audio companion.
