Combining the Best of Both Worlds – Lights and Sounds with Light Grooves Earphones

I thought I’ve seen everything when it comes to earphones / headphones. Big, small, wired, wireless, flexible, bendable and all sorts of stuff. But now, after unboxing my Light Grooves, I know, I haven’t seen them all.

If you’re an audiophile who wants to add something to your collection of earphones, or just wanting an all-in-one headset, then the Light Grooves may be just for you.

LIGHT GROOVES PLUS FACTORS

CORDS

What you notice at first about the Light Grooves are the cords used. The illuminating cords are wrapped in a plastic that makes it tangle-free and more durable compared to the regular cords of the headsets and earphones.

The illuminating cords flash according to the beat of the sound from the smart device it is connected to. So Light Grooves is right when it says that you don’t just hear your beat, you see it too – which is, with all honesty, a nice thing to have.

It is a major plus factor and head turner for people to see you glowing and flashing even in dark areas. Another great accessory when you do your running at night – sort of like a safety precaution as well.

With the on/off switch, you can turn off the lights anytime you want. So you are still in control should like it with lights off or on. ;-)

Plus, the cord is 43″ long, which I think can fit most people, if not all.

SOUND QUALITY

The Light Grooves is just not good looking at, but, better when you listen to it too. The Light Grooves can really compete with the sound quality it produces. Even at a high volume, the quality is consistent and doesn’t go bad as you increase volume. Even better, if your device has its equalizer to adjust depending on the type of music you play.

I like that it has crisp and clear quality for vocals. This makes it a good option for listening to audio books and podcasts, which I do a lot of times.

On voice calls, the audio quality from person on the other line is crisp and highly understandable. So it is both a dependable smartphone headset and music earphone in one.

IN-LINE CONTROLLER

You got control in your hands, aside as being a clip, the rectangular shaped thingy that holds the cords together, serve as an in-line controller for both the light and audio.

It is the switch of the illuminated cord, should you choose to turn it on or off.

Single click on the half-circle button to play or pause the music, double click to skip to next music.

It is also the same button to answer and hang-up phone calls. Also a long press prompts voice commands, when activated. This is highly usable when if you’re hands are not free do to work of your hands. Of course, you have to activate and set your voice commands and must be connected to the Internet, for other advanced functions to work.

The in-line controller is where the mic is located.

Also, it has the charging port for the light. One full charging can give you 2 – 3 hours of groovy flashing lights.

NOTE: There is a small LED indicator inside. Red for charging – Blue for full.

EARBUDS

Another thing I like with the Light Grooves package is that each box has additional two sets of earbuds. You get small, medium and large earbuds. So whichever fits your ears right, you can easily replace with the extras.

3.5mm JACK

With its 3.5 mm jack, it is highly compatible with most audio devices (smartphones, portable music players) in the market now. So there’s no worrying why you shouldn’t pick this from stores.

BUILD

I think the build quality of the Light Grooves to withstand the beatings of daily usage. With the cords wrapped inside a plastic container. The jack seems to be relatively tough for an earphone.

MINOR GRIPE

I find it odd though, that the Light Grooves doesn’t have its own volume control Volume Control so that you don’t have to get take out your device to adjust the volume.

And another minor one, funny at most, is the spelling of “before” on the inside packaging of the Light Grooves. Of course, it does not affect the performance at all, and many wouldn’t mind or notice it anyway. :-) And it must be a typographical error on this batch that I got.

It’s just the grammar “OC” in me that bothers me to look at it. So don’t even bother this one small thing. Hahahaha.

CONCLUSION

Other than volume controller, the Light Grooves earphone is definitely worth your every penny. At just a little over 1,000 pesos, the price tag is attractive enough for a quality (both sound and built) earphone. Not to mention that it is a headset as well for a smartphone and the beat-activated lights.

Overall, you get more than you pay for, if you compare it to phone headsets or music earphones that you can buy separately with the same price for one Light Grooves.

In my opinion, this is one of those accessories that is a no-brainer at all should you opt to buy either a headset or an earphone for you. Why not get both features, with the “beating” lights instead with Light Grooves?
