Every marathon is measured in kilometers, but the moments that stay with runners often happen between the start and finish lines. At the Galaxy Manila Marathon 2026, EDSA was transformed from Metro Manila’s busiest highway into the country’s first-ever full marathon route along the iconic thoroughfare, bringing together 25,000 runners for a historic event.
Held from June 12 to 13, 2026, the Galaxy Manila Marathon marked a milestone in Philippine running with the first full marathon route traversing EDSA from end to end. Through its partnership with RUNRIO and SM Supermalls, Samsung helped bring together thousands of runners in a celebration of endurance, personal achievement, and community.

Coinciding with Philippine Independence Day, the marathon welcomed elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts, first-time runners, families, and local communities across the 5KM, 10KM, 21KM, and 42KM race categories. The full marathon began late on June 12, taking participants along a route that transformed one of the country’s busiest roads into a space dedicated to movement and shared achievement.
Photographer Jilson Tiu documented this historic event using the Galaxy S26 Ultra, capturing the scale, energy, and emotion of runners, supporters, and the city throughout the course. His photographs showcase a rare perspective of EDSA as it became a venue for community, endurance, and celebration.

“The Galaxy Manila Marathon is a strong expression of Samsung’s vision for connected wellness, where technology and lifestyle intersect to inspire healthier, more intentional living. This year reflects a growing community that values progress, resilience, and deeper connections,” said Samsung Electronics Philippines Mobile Experience (MX) Head Kristine Go.
Go added that Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem aims to support wellness journeys beyond race day by helping people move, recover, and live with greater purpose every day.
More than a race, the Galaxy Manila Marathon reflected the continued growth of running in the Philippines as a community-driven pursuit of wellness, where consistency, mindset, and meaningful experiences are valued alongside distance and speed.
